Marking out an area in your field is a great way to practise when schooling your horse, especially if it is the same size arena that is used for a dressage competition. The standard size is 20m by 40m where 8 letters are used around the perimeter, or if you have the space available you can use a longer arena and the extra letters can be added making a 20m by 60m shape, this include 4 more letters. Arena letters are available that either to push into the ground on metal frames or are cones, these can be easily picked up and stored when not in use. Arena letters are also available to attach to fencing on a permanent arena. If you are using your arena for jumping, plastic jump blocks are long lasting and different sizes and combinations of jumps can be made from them. Jump cups that fit on standard jump wings are available, and bale covers make a good range of jumps to practise over.
