Horse boots come in many types and styles and your choice depends on the protection your horse may need for the work he is doing. If you compete your horse in cross country events he will need more protection than in show jumping as the fences are fixed. Show jumps will fall down if knocked but a horse may still hit his foot or leg on the pole and this is where the protection is needed. Boots should be preferably light and flexible and support his legs but not restrict his movement especially when jumping. They should ideally be easy to care for, put on and take off for convenient use. Horses that are not competing may also require boots for schooling or hacking out, again as protection from knocks and bumps, but these do not need such a strong strike pad as a competition boot.
Horse Bandages are mainly used in the stable or for travelling; they are for protection and support for the horse's legs and many people use them after their horse has been working hard. Putting on a stable bandage needs practise so that the bandage does not slip or cause pressure points.
