Fibre is a very important part of your horses' diet. A horse requires a minimum of 2% of its body weight in Fibre (hay etc.) a day, which keeps your horses gut healthy. In the wild horses would get all of their nutritional requirements through forage, grass and natural plants/herbs; many modern feeds such as chaffs/fibres are created around the horses natural diet.
When grazing and hay are in short supply, many types of Chaff can be used as an ideal hay replacement. They are great for bulking out buckets feeds too, adding chewing time and aiding slower digestion. They can come as complete feeds with recommended levels of vitamins and minerals (when fed at the correct rate) and many are suitable for those prone to Laminitis.
Many types of Chaff have added herbs such as mint or garlic making them very palatable and often come in 20kg well compacted bags that can be very cost effective and go a long way.
